Why Hackney homes run hot

What to check before anyone quotes you in Hackney
- Flats and leasehold. A lot of homes here are leasehold flats, and fitting an outdoor unit almost always needs the freeholder's consent. Start that conversation early — it is usually the slowest part of the whole job.
- Conservation areas. Hackney has plenty of them, and whether your street is covered changes what can go on a visible wall. Check with the council before settling on a position for the outdoor unit rather than assuming.
- Limited outdoor space. Small rear yards, shared gardens and balconies mean unit placement takes more thought than it would in a semi with a side return. A decent installer works this out on the survey, not on install day.
