Why Hounslow homes get warmer than you'd expect
West London sits well inside the capital's urban heat island, so warm spells tend to linger — and the housing does the rest. Chiswick and much of Isleworth are Victorian and Edwardian terraces: solid brick walls that soak up heat all day and let it back out through the evening, often with a loft conversion under the roof that becomes the warmest room in the house by bedtime. Head west through Hounslow town, Heston and Cranford and the stock shifts to interwar and post-war semis, where big windows and open-plan rear extensions can make the back of the house uncomfortable on a hot afternoon.
There's a local wrinkle too. Under the flight path and alongside the A4 and M4, "just open the windows at night" is a trade between heat and noise. A quiet, closed-window way to cool a bedroom is worth more in this borough than in most.

Much of Chiswick, along with the older riverside parts of Isleworth, sits in conservation areas. That doesn't rule out an outdoor unit, but where it goes needs checking with the council before anything is fixed to a wall. A good installer treats that as step one, not an afterthought.
